ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

As a consequence of globalization, clusters in remote areas are facing new competitive challenges and new opportunities. With the development of the internet and falling prices on transportation and production, suppliers and buyers in remote areas have access to the global market. A key issue for clusters in remote areas is how to utilize these new opportunities.

For clusters in remote areas to seize the opportunity of globalization, they need to re-think their strategies. In this process, they need to identify their specialized regional knowledge and acknowledge how it can be utilized in the global value chain. Furthermore, they need to identify new possibilities for collaboration with other clusters and with specialized knowledge providers, located outside their own geographical areas, to increase the innovative capacity of their clusters.

The objective of the conference is to provide cluster stakeholders with the latest knowledge for identifying and working with clusters in remote areas. At the same time the conference offers a unique opportunity for cluster stakeholders to exchange experiences with their peers.
